EVERY ONE IS TALKING ABOUT ISLAM &

IT’S ABOUT TIME THAT WE TALK!
Over 1,000 radio talk shows have participated
in a systematic campaign of stereotyping and
racism against Muslims. This often takes the
form of "open mike" programs on talk
stations that present all Muslims and Arabs
as being prone to criminal acts and terrorism.
Here in Chicago, nationally syndicated talk
show host Erich “Mancow” Muller,
host of the popular “Mancow’s Morning
Madness” regularly broadcasts his intolerance.
After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he took the
famous song “Burning Love” by Elvis
Presley and composed a parody of it entitled
“Burning Mosques”. Muller has said
that right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh
is his role model. Limbaugh has said the torture
by American soldiers of Iraqi prisoners at Iraq’s
Abu Ghraib prison last year was “a brilliant
maneuver” and “pretty effective.”
